It’s a weak week on the PSN, devoted to Sonic’s 19th birthday. That means that there’s a lot of Sonic DLC that simply isn’t much of a bargain if you don’t have the games to go with it.

So what is worth it?

  • Blue Toad Murder Files can be sampled with Episode 1 for $1.49, and the entire series can be had for $26.
  • MAG Interdiction adds new maps, gameplay, and trophies for $9.99
  • Kick Ass is on sale for $9.99. Our review is here, we liked it.
  • Warhawk Fallen Star DLC is $1.99 – 75% off.
  • Red Dead Redemption “Outlaws to the End” Co-op Pack is free.
  • Little Big Planet has a free character download for the summer solstice.

All in all, it’d be pretty easy to ignore the PSN this week as we’ll be too busy playing Red Dead Co-op. Maybe it’s for the best.

In just a few days the world of Red Dead Redemption gets even larger with the free-to-download, and free-to-play (on PSN) co-op multiplayer pack, Outlaws to the End.

This pack drops on June 22, 2010, and will include six complete missions for up to eight players. While running the new missions players will earn additional multiplayer XP, and new trophies are up for grabs.

This is the first of three downloadable packs for this summer, with the other two being paid-for DLC.

Fat Princess just got a whole lot better. On top of having the most rumpshaking credits sequence of all time, Titan Studio and the folks from Santa Monica have released DLC that unlock an age old battle: Pirates Vs. Ninjas. The new DLC has a handful of new maps as well a total of four new character types. The name? Fat Roles. Ouch – that’s not going to get you in trouble again at all, guys.

What’s worth it this week on PSN?

Catan
Available on the Xbox 360 for over three years, Catan comes to PSN with the same loveable gameplay that has destroyed many a bachelor’s degree in higher education camps around the world. The game is one of land possession and resource trading; based on the board game of the same name you’ll attempt to seize control of your opponents land by building roads and settlements to earn points. Trade resources to make bold moves and win the game. Catan is notable for introducing the phrase “I’ve got wood for sheep” to modern parlance. Continue reading »

3D is here, whether you’re ready or not. If you’ve got it, gaming is about to get a whole lot cooler for you. With their press event this morning at E32010, Sony wowed gamers with clips from the upcoming Killzone 3 in 3D, promising single-disc versions that will carry 3D components, meaning that whenever you choose to add 3D to your home, you’ll be ready with PlayStation.

The event went on to show off PlayStation Move, heralded by Kevin Butler (VP of Pure Awesome). Tiger Woods 11 was showed with incredible 1:1 control. Watching the EA rep open and close the club simply by turning his wrist was everything I’ve wanted but never been able to have from a motion controlled golf game. Continue reading »
